EVENT: Surrey Central’s TARGET VIP night
A few weeks back, I was hired to shoot stills and video at Surrey Central Mall for local politicians, business owners, and Target VIPs to celebrate the opening of the Surrey store.

Finally, the M6 which I sent out to Kindermann eight months ago is finally back. It didn’t take him that long to finish working on it, but it was an expensive fix, so now that its back in my hands, I got right to using it. First up, two rolls of Neopan, most of which I shot at The Vancouver Remembrance Day Celebrations, with a few outside shots to get used to it again.

I’ve been learning a bit more about InDesign over the last few months, and put what I learned to good use putting the latest issue of ABORT Magazine together. You might also recognize the image from an earlier post doing some design work.

Throughout the last summer, I was not shooting much of my own work, instead focusing on a lot of wedding work with Sohal Photography. I did manage to shoot through two rolls of Tri-x between Sept-Oct.

This past weekend, I was proud to have been asked to attend and photograph a party, thrown by Gino Odjick for the one and only Pavel ‘Russian Rocket’ Bure, on the eve of his jersey retirement with the Canucks. During his Vancouver years, Pavel spent a lot of time with Gino on the Musqueam lands, and thus, was honoured this night by the First Nations, receiving gifts and commendations from several local chiefs and bands.

It’s been almost a year since I last photographed Guy LaFleur, and this year saw nearly three full days with Mr Flower. Guy is a one of a kind soul, who recognizes that it was not only his skill, but his fans that made him a star, and he treats them with the same amount of respect that they show him. Always happy to work with Guy. I shot mostly video this time around, so scroll to the bottom for the 3:00 feature I put together!

Good ol’ Geroy, no longer a BC Lion still finds time to come out and sign for his fans in support of BC Cancer Foundation. I’ve said it before, but if you ever have a chance to interact with this guy, you’re in for a treat. Happy to have photographed him for a third time, earlier this month.

Last week I was out at UBC Golf Club for a Tournament put on by CREW Vancouver. It was a blast to follow around special guest Kirk McLean even though the weather didn’t always treat us the best. I definitely look forward to doing it again next year.

While on assignment with ABORT Magazine, I had the opportunity recently to photograph Director Jason James during promo for his new film ‘That Burning Feeling’

When I was first getting into street photography, and truth be told back into photography after a short hiatus in the early 2000s, I took my old Konica SLR with kit lens and expired Minolta film down to the DT East Side often, taking portraits and capturing some unique insights into the people who live and work there. In this case, an elderly man who may be long passed away now, some 7-8 years later. He sat quiet, carving pipes with a dollar store x-acto knife.
